Carnival Celebration - Cruise review

As a travel advisor, I’m always looking for firsthand experiences I can bring back to my clients—Last November I sailed aboard Carnival Celebration. It was exactly the kind of trip that helps me guide travelers with real insight.

Sailing Aboard the Carnival Celebration: My November Cruise Review & Port Highlights

Embarking in Miami

Our cruise began in Miami, a city that always sets the tone for adventure. Boarding was smooth and efficient; Carnival’s staff kept everything moving, making embarkation stress-free. Once onboard, I had a chance to explore the Celebration—a stylish, activity-filled ship with great energy, diverse dining, and entertainment options perfect for families, couples, and groups.

Life Onboard the Carnival Celebration

One of the best parts of this itinerary was simply being onboard the Carnival Celebration. As one of Carnival’s newest Excel-class ships, it combines modern design with nonstop fun, making it a great fit for families, couples, and multigenerational groups. Here are some of the key areas and experiences that stood out to me as a travel advisor:

Adults-Only Retreat: Serenity

Serenity Retreat

For travelers looking for quiet time, the Serenity Adult-Only Retreat was a peaceful escape. This adult only area features loungers, daybeds, a private bar, and whirlpools—perfect for couples or anyone who wants a break from the energetic main decks. I always recommend Serenity to clients who want the fun of Carnival with the option of relaxing in a more tranquil environment.

The Spa & Relaxation Options

The Cloud 9 Spa onboard is a wellness haven. Whether clients are interested in massages, facials, thermal suites, or simply unwinding in a calming atmosphere, the spa offers a wide range of treatments. Guests staying in Cloud 9 staterooms enjoy special amenities and access perks, which is something I often point out when helping clients choose their cabin category.

Camp Ocean & Kids Club

For families, the Camp Ocean kids’ program is one of Carnival’s biggest strengths. It’s divided into age groups—from the littlest cruisers to teens—with themed activities, supervised play, arts and crafts, and their own dedicated spaces. Parents can enjoy adult time knowing their children are engaged and well taken care of. As a travel advisor, I love recommending Carnival Celebration to families because the kids’ program genuinely enhances the vacation for everyone.

Shows & Entertainment

Celebration Central

Evenings on Carnival Celebration are full of amazing entertainment. The ship’s production shows, live music, comedians, and themed events ensure there’s something for every taste. Celebration’s new venues and high-energy performances set the tone for fun-filled nights. If clients enjoy Broadway-style shows or a variety of live entertainment options, this ship checks all the boxes.

xCelebration Key – Carnival’s New Private Destination

One of the most anticipated stops on this itinerary was Celebration Key, Carnival’s newest private Bahamian destination. It’s designed with relaxation and fun in mind—turquoise waters, beautiful beaches, and plenty of amenities. Whether clients prefer lounging with a drink, playing in the lagoon, or exploring the shops and activities, this is a port that will appeal to many different travel styles. It's going to be a major highlight on Carnival itineraries.  A great place to relax while the kids play in the water.

Nassau – A Taste of Nassau Tour

In Nassau, I booked a Taste of Nassau tour, and this was one of the most culturally rich experiences of the trip. The tour blended food, history, and local storytelling. I sampled authentic Bahamian dishes and learned about the island’s culinary influences. This is the type of excursion I love recommending—especially for clients who want more than just beach time. Food tours give such a genuine feel for local life, and this one is an easy, enjoyable option for all ages.

Amber Cove – Walking Tour of Puerto Plata

Next, we visited Amber Cove, where I headed into Puerto Plata for a walking tour. If your clients appreciate history, architecture, and seeing the Dominican Republic beyond the port, this tour is ideal. We explored colorful streets, local shops, cigar factories, and learned about the city’s past. It’s relaxed, affordable, and perfect for travelers who want cultural enrichment without a strenuous activity level. However, the streets are uneven and might prove difficult for anyone with mobility issues or aids.  I always encourage guests to venture beyond the immediate port areas when possible, and Puerto Plata is a great example of why.

Grand Turk – Semi-Submarine Adventure

In Grand Turk, I opted for a semi-sub cruise—a fantastic choice for anyone who wants to experience the underwater world without getting wet. Well not as wet, we had a windy day and did get wet from the spray of the tender boat.  The semi-sub allows you to sit below deck and view coral, fish, and marine life through large windows. It’s family-friendly and great for clients who love nature but prefer not to snorkel or dive. Grand Turk’s waters are incredibly clear, so visibility was excellent.  I do caution that if you are prone to motion sickness, this might not be the tour for you.

Returning to Miami

After a relaxing final sea day, we returned to Miami feeling refreshed and full of great memories. This itinerary offered a perfect blend of beach time, culture, and easy exploration.

My Professional Take

From a travel advisor’s perspective, this Carnival Celebration sailing is a fantastic recommendation for:

  • First-time cruisers who want accessible, easy-to-navigate ports
  • Families looking for variety in activities
  • Food and culture lovers who enjoy tours like the Taste of Nassau or Puerto Plata walking experience
  • Relaxation seekers interested in Carnival’s new private destination

The ship itself delivers great value with plenty to do, and each port offers customizable experiences for different travel styles.

If you’re thinking about a cruise to the Bahamas or Caribbean—or want personalized guidance on which Carnival itinerary fits your travel preferences—I’d be happy to help you plan your perfect sailing.
